Preschool Play – FAQs

What is Preschool Play?

Preschool Play is a small-group drop-off program designed for children ages 3–5 that blends movement, creativity, learning, and social-emotional growth in a warm, playful environment.

Our days include:

  • Movement & obstacle courses

  • Beginner gymnastics-style activities

  • Creative play & sensory experiences

  • Storytime, art, music, and hands-on learning

  • Social skill building & independence practice

  • Outdoor time when possible

The goal is to help children build confidence, routines, friendships, and school-readiness skills through play-based learning.

What ages is Preschool Play for?

Preschool Play is designed for children ages 3–5.

Children should be comfortable in a drop-off setting or working toward that goal. We are always happy to talk through individual needs with families.

What is the staff-to-child ratio?

We plan to have 3–4 adults for approximately 12–15 children to ensure a supportive, engaging, and well-supervised environment.

Our smaller group size allows us to:

  • Support social-emotional development

  • Help children build confidence and independence

  • Provide individualized attention when needed

  • Create a calm, consistent environment

What experience do the teachers have?

Our teachers have years of experience working with children and are certified in:

  • Preschool Education

  • Elementary Education

  • Secondary Education

Our staff brings backgrounds in teaching, child development, movement-based learning, executive functioning support, and social-emotional learning. We are passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.

How many days per week is the program?

The program is designed as a 3-day-per-week experience (Tuesday–Thursday) because consistency helps children build:

  • Strong routines

  • Comfort with transitions

  • Social connections

  • Independence and confidence

Can families choose fewer days?

Possibly! While our preference is for children to attend all three days, we understand every family has different schedules.

  • 2-day options may be available depending on the child and the days requested.

  • 1-day enrollment may be more limited, as it can be harder for children to fully settle into routines and group dynamics with less consistency.

We are always happy to work with families when possible.

How long is the program?

In the summer you can sign up weekly. In the fall families will enroll in longer sessions.

Our goal is to create a consistent group experience where children can build routines, friendships, confidence, and skills over time. More details on enrollment structure and scheduling will be shared soon.

What makes Preschool Play different?

Preschool Play is intentionally designed to support the whole child.

We focus on:

  • Learning through movement and play

  • Building executive functioning and social skills

  • Encouraging curiosity and creativity

  • Helping children learn routines, flexibility, and independence

  • Creating a positive first-group-learning experience

The environment is structured enough to build confidence and routines while still allowing children to explore, create, move, and have fun.

Is this a traditional preschool?

No — Preschool Play is a play-based enrichment program, not a licensed traditional preschool.

Our focus is on:

  • Social-emotional growth

  • Movement and play

  • Early learning experiences

  • Confidence and independence

  • Routine-building and readiness skills

Will there be outdoor time?

When weather allows, we hope to incorporate outdoor walks, sensory play, or movement activities into the program!
